Welcome to fofah.org, the website of The Friends of the Farm at Hilltop ("FOFAH," "we," "us," or "our"). This page combines our Privacy Policy (what information we collect and how we use it) and our Terms of Use (the rules for using this site). By using fofah.org, you agree to both.
The Friends of the Farm at Hilltop, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based at 1616 Mapleton Avenue, Suffield, CT 06078. We manage Hilltop Farm, a historic property once owned by Indian Motorcycle co-founder George Hendee. You can reach us at info@fofah.org or (860) 758-0668.
FOFAH respects your privacy. This section explains what information we collect when you visit fofah.org or interact with us, how we use it, and the choices you have.
When you create an account, become a member, donate, sign up to volunteer, register for an event, or contact us, we may collect:
Donations and membership payments are processed through Authorize.Net, a third-party payment processor. We do not store your full credit card number, CVV, or banking details on our servers. We retain only a transaction reference number used to look up the payment if you have a question about it. Authorize.Net's own privacy policy applies to information you submit through their payment forms.
When you visit fofah.org, our servers may automatically log:
This information is used for site security, to diagnose technical problems, and to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. We use Google Analytics to help make our site better.
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in to your account, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site (including signing in) may not work correctly if you do.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent or trade donor or member lists.
We share information only in these limited cases:
We send email only to people who have asked to receive it. You control which categories you receive (newsletter, alerts, event announcements) from your account dashboard, and every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. We will continue to send transactional messages (donation receipts, membership confirmations, password resets) regardless of marketing preferences, because these relate to your account.
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all pages that handle personal data, hashed passwords, and restricted access to our database. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by Connecticut law.
We keep your account information as long as your account is active. If you ask us to close your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information, except for records we are required to keep for accounting, tax, or legal purposes (for example, donation records used for IRS reporting are typically retained for seven years).
You have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@fofah.org. We will respond within a reasonable time, typically within 30 days.
Our site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a parent or guardian believes their child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it. When children participate in our programs (such as Dandelion Explorers), we collect any necessary information from a parent or guardian, not the child.
We sometimes photograph events at Hilltop Farm for use in our newsletter, on this website, and on our social media accounts. By attending a public event on the property, you acknowledge that you may appear in such photographs. If you would prefer not to be photographed, please let the photographer or an event organizer know, and we will accommodate your request.
Our site may contain links to other websites operated by partners, sponsors, and service providers. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of every site you visit.
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of fofah.org. By using the site, creating an account, making a donation, registering for a program, or attending an event you signed up for through this site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or make a payment on this site. If you are under 18, you may use the site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. Parents and guardians are responsible for any account activity by minors in their care.
When you create an account, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information, and to keep that information up to date. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at info@fofah.org if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
All donations and membership payments are processed through Authorize.Net. By submitting a payment, you confirm that you are authorized to use the payment method you provide. Donations to FOFAH are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law; we will provide a receipt suitable for tax purposes.
Refunds. Donations are generally non-refundable. If you believe a donation was made in error or as a result of an unauthorized transaction, please contact us at info@fofah.org within 30 days and we will work with you in good faith to resolve the issue. Membership fees are non-refundable once the membership period has begun, but membership benefits are transferable to another household member at our discretion.
Tickets and registrations for events and programs are subject to the specific terms posted with each event. Some events are weather-dependent or may be rescheduled. We will make a reasonable effort to notify registrants of cancellations or changes by email. Where appropriate, we will offer a rescheduled date, a credit toward a future event, or a refund.
By attending an event at Hilltop Farm, you agree to follow posted rules, instructions from staff and volunteers, and any additional safety requirements communicated at the event. We reserve the right to refuse entry or remove anyone whose conduct we judge to be unsafe, disruptive, or in violation of these Terms.
Volunteer registration through this site is an expression of interest, not a binding commitment by either party. Volunteer roles, schedules, and any required training will be confirmed separately. Volunteers must follow all safety guidelines and instructions provided on site.

You may view and print pages for your personal, non-commercial use. Any other use — including reproduction, modification, distribution, or republication — requires our prior written consent.
"Hilltop Farm," "Friends of the Farm at Hilltop," and "FOFAH" are names we use to identify our organization and its activities. References to "Indian Motorcycle" and George Hendee are historical and do not imply any endorsement by or affiliation with the present-day Indian Motorcycle Company.
If you submit comments, photos, testimonials, or other content to FOFAH through the site or by email, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, and display that content in our newsletter, on the website, and on our social media for the purpose of promoting Hilltop Farm and our mission. You confirm that you own or have permission to share the content you submit.
The site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available." We make reasonable efforts to keep the site accurate and up to date, but we do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. Information on the site is provided for general purposes and should not be relied upon as legal, financial, medical, or professional advice.
Hilltop Farm includes outdoor terrain, livestock, working farm equipment, and natural hazards. Visitors enter and use the property at their own risk. Specific events may require a separate liability waiver, which will be provided at registration or at the event.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, FOFAH, its directors, officers, employees, and volunteers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the site, including but not limited to loss of data, lost revenue, or interruption of service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or your use of the site will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to FOFAH in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars.
You agree to indemnify and hold FOFAH and its directors, officers, employees, and volunteers harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the site, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
We may suspend or close your account at our discretion if we believe you have violated these Terms. You may close your account at any time by contacting us at info@fofah.org. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification) will continue to apply.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of the site will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Hartford County, Connecticut, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
We may update this combined Privacy Policy and Terms of Use from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Effective date" at the top of this page and, for material changes, post a notice on the site. Your continued use of fofah.org after changes take effect means you accept the updated document.
